Kalamazoo Paper Chemicals was founded in 1962 by Harry B. Parker, a former professor of Pulp Paper Engineering at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo. In the beginning, the company operated as a manufacturers representative group but has since grown into distribution, import / export, and limited manufacturing.

A primary principle of the company is to offer our customers a very high level of technical expertise in problem solving and process optimization for their operations. We believe that it is essential that we maintain a high level of understanding of our customer’s processes and therefore many of the problems which they encounter.

Located in our own buildings in Richland, Michigan, just outside of Kalamazoo, we now represent many major suppliers to industries around the world. These companies include Emsland Starch GmbH of Germany, Wilkinson Kaolin Corp., Huygen Instruments, Cargill Inc., IGT Reprotest and many others. Product lines include a variety of Potato Starches and Derivatives, Coating Chemicals and Additives, Kaolin Clay, Pulp and Paper Quality and Testing Instrumentation.

Many of our suppliers have been with us for more than 30 years. Kalamazoo Paper Chemicals places a very high value on long term relationships, both with customer’s and suppliers. We shy away from short term or "spot" business. Our goal is to build and maintain mutually beneficial relations with all of our customers and suppliers, for the long term.

Products are shipped to our customers both from our own warehouse stocks and direct from various manufacturers. Inventory, shipping, packing, and product modifications are often tailored to the special needs of a specific customer.

Our long term goal is to continue as a small to medium sized supplier of products and service to our customers while avoiding the pitfalls of excessive growth and the associated diminution of personnel service which often accompanies it.
