Over 200 Modifications of Virgin Potato Starch for the Paper Industry including Cationic Starches: both for internal bond and surface application, coating starches, and size press & surface treatments.
Potato Starch, particularly Virgin Potato Starches, have unique characteristics which allow them to function in ways which are truly unique. Due to its very high molecular weight, high phosphate content, and high viscosity potential, these products often out perform the derivatives of corn, waxy maize, and other starches by wide margins.
Emsland produces a wide range of products, each tailored to specifications which allow it to perform in applications which include Wet End, Size Press, Coatings, Adhesives, and other specialty applications. Kalamazoo Paper Chemicals stocks many of these products in our U.S. warehouses in order to insure our customers prompt delivery and the best in service.
Our applications engineers have many years of experience directly in paper mills which insures a comprehensive understanding of most mill applications and goals.
Please contact us directly to discuss your particular application. General categories are as follows:
WET END STARCHES, Cationic and Anionic charges, from low to very high charge levels. Very high molecular weights with very high phosphate content. These products produce significant improvements in strength, retention, drainage, and sizing efficiency when properly applied.
SURFACE TREATMENTS, for use in size press, symsizer, film coaters, gate roll, and other similar surface treatments. Products include both charged and non-charged modifications in a variety of viscosities. Because of the unique nature of these products they can often produce Increased Pick Strength, Less Penetration, Superior Opacity, better Optical Brightener efficiency. Highly beneficial in formulations for Ink Jet Printing; better color, less bleed.
COATING BINDER, replace synthetic binder with starch based products for cost savings without loss of quality. Cationic derivatives have shown improved gloss and printability, reduction or elimination of CMC / PVA film formers and water retention agents. Excellent quality, performance and cost savings.
WITH OVER 200 MODIFICATIONS AND VARIATIONS for the PAPER INDUSTRY there are many issues which go with each application. Please contact us to discuss your needs with our paper engineers.
